Mr. Burton has represented resort developers, self-storage owners and operators, big box retailers, and other companies, as well as individuals in the acquisition, entitlement, development, financing, leasing, and disposition of real property.  Mr. Burton also assists clients in commercial litigation.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Burton worked as an associate in the real property sections of two of Utah’s largest law firms and as in-house counsel to a resort developer.  Before law school, Mr. Burton worked for a commercial real estate brokerage and commercial real estate appraisal company.  He is an avid marathon runner (with a personal record of 2:37:04) and is currently training for the 2011 Boston Marathon.

Represented private individual in acquisition of 900-acre ranch and luxury cabin  from Chapter 11 Trustee in special auction proceeding.

Represented publicly held self-storage company in acquisition of two operating self-storage facilities located in Alabama from a financial institution that had  foreclosed on the prior owner.

Represented publicly held self-storage company in acquisition of operating self-storage facility located in Florida.

Represented publicly held self-storage company in acquisition of operating self- storage facility located in Utah.

Represented publicly held self-storage company in financing transactions with a total value of over $500 million over period of approximately 18 months.
